Katie McAndrew - 2008 Finalist for PA Outstanding 4-H Horse Member Award

2008 PA 4-H Horse Show Results

The 49th annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show was held October 24, 25 and 26 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Youth from over 60 counties participated in this year's show. Approximately 880 youth and 1000 horses competed in 49 performance and 91 production classes. In addition to the class placings, three local youth were recognized for additional horse accomplishments:

• Chelsea Folmar of the Town & Country 4-H Horse and Pony Club was recognized as a Master Showman Recipient. This is a special ward given to horse handler with production projects that demonstrate exemplary horsemanship handling skills. Chelsea is the daughter of Scott & Crystal Folmar of Luthersburg.
• Shalise Gallaher of the Cowboy Up 4-H Club was recognized with three other 4-H members from across the state for completing Level 3 of the Pennsylvania 4-H Horsemanship Skills Program. Shalise is the daughter of Dave & Rhonda Gallaher of Grampian.
• Katie McAndrew of the Town & Country 4-H Horse and Pony Club was recognized along with 4 other 4-H members from across the state for being named as a finalist for the Pennsylvania Outstanding 4-H Horse Member Award. Katie is the daughter of Joseph & Debbie McAndrew of Brockway.

Equine Educational Workshop

The Clearfield County Conservation District, Clearfield FFA Chapter, & Penn State Cooperative Extension of Clearfield County are hosting an EQUINE EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Agriculture Building of the Clearfield County Fairgrounds - Clearfield, PA

This FREE educational program is open to all interested horse owners and horse enthusiasts! Topics will include the economics of feeding horses, creating a feed program, horse hoof care, equine health issues, and laws and regulations that affect horse operations. Refreshments will be available, as well as great door prizes for participants!!!

It's a Hockey Night - SAVE THE DATE!!!!

Lackawanna and Luzerne counties are coordinating “4-H Night @ Penguins”, which is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2009. This is the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (not Pittsburgh!). Some of you attended this event last year. 2009 will be the third year of 4-H Night @ Penguins.

Celebrity Wait Staff Nite - A SUCCESS!!!!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all 4-H members & families that came out to the Dutch Pantry of DuBois on Wednesay for the "Celebrity Wait Staff Nite"

The Clearfield County 4-H Teen Council collected close to $400.00, which will benefit two local 4-H families!
